“Zydus Cadila” develops a drug for Fatty Liver

The Indian drug company Zydus Cadila is in the process to develop a real medicine for fatty liver disease. As many of you might know, at this moment there are no actual medicine treatment for fatty liver, so this might be the first drug for the disease.

The drug itself is based on another drug that is designed Diabetes called Lipaglyn (Saroglitazar). According to the company, the unique mechanism of action in the drug, it could also treat Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

At first they will develop a drug for Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) treatments only, which is a more advanced stage of fatty liver. After a while they promise they will be able to develop a drug to treat millions of patients suffering for fatty liver disease, at any stage.

Cautious needed

Although this looks promising, one must remember that fatty liver disease is only a symptom of a bigger issue. The main cause of fatty liver is being overweight, bad eating habits, and absence of exercise. Eliminating fatty liver alone won’t disregard the mentioned issues. The main treatment for fatty liver is and always will be a good diet program and living a healthier lifestyle through better eating habits and exercise.

That’s the truth. There are no alternatives here – if you want to be really cured, there are no easy and comfortable shortcuts. I highly recommend to read on fatty liver treatment article.

UPDATE (02/15/2017):

The company now says their due date is 2020. They also shared a brochure that highlights what they are doing.
